INDIVIDUAL COACHING USING THE KuS MODEL:

In a phase of professional re-orientation, Maria H. looked for support in a two-day coaching unit. With its 7 steps, the KuS model offered a simple sequence of steps in the course of which a playful process unfolded. Different techniques were applied such as interviews, dialogs, speeches, painting, open discussions and rituals in order to make the potential and professed intentions of Mrs H. visible in pictures – both from the inside as well as the outside. The entire process was recorded visually so that a vivid picture remains.

The seven steps of the KuS model:

Input: her past, activities up to the present time, her actual potential
Intention: the core question as to what Maria wants in the bottom of her heat
Leadership: what responsibilities does she want to assume, whom does she want to offer space in her life?
Vision: in what direction is she being pushed in order to live out her intention?
Community: what resources does she have in her surroundings, how can her intention be integrated?
Management: what means does she envision to realize her intention and under what conditions?
Output: what kind of a solution presents itself whose realization she will fulfil and satisfy?

Maria herself describes the process as follows:

“The coaching I received from Reinhard Kuchenmüller and Marianne Stifel with regard to professional and private re-orientation gave me important impulses. I found it exceptional that there were different methods which were applied at the same time in such a competent manner. On one hand, the playful visual recording and illustration of the process by Reinhard Kuchenmüller, on the other, Dr. Marianne Stifel’s professional and very empathetic way of conducting talks parallel to this. This coaching has allowed me to break new ground.”

COACHING IN SMALL GROUPS USING THE KuS MODEL:

The upper echelons of the ‘agency for development of the Milan area’ were coached by Reinhard Kuchenmüller over a two-day period. The task was to reflect on the history of the agency and its organizational challenges in the light of current expansion within the areas of responsibility. The visualization was the methodical backbone of the event, and depending on the section of the process; the participants painted on their own or they were reflected in images.

Gerardo de Luzenberger, Italian facilitator and initiator of the coaching, described the event as follows:

“Two days dedicated to innovation and creativity, and to what can justifiably be called the first language of mankind, visualization and its use for the organizational expansion development and for the consultancy services of the agency. Reinhard Kuchenmüller used his 7-step KuS model – a model that helps people reflect on their situation in their organization.”
